From January 2021 to April 2023, SUPER held an online course that explored postcard making through various collage, drawing and writing techniques – as well as presenting examples of artists who use/have used postcards and mail art in their artistic practices.
Over the duration of the course, Postcard 1o1 eventually established a world-wide community, by inviting people to gather and share time, skills, inspiration, music, knowledge, and – of course – postcards.
The postcard is an object that combines images (the front), communications (message) and performance (sending and reception); it’s iconic, easy to make, cheap and a perfect for DIY projects.
Members of the international community of postcard enthusiasts will meet in Milan on the 1st of April, (for the first time in person), inviting anyone who wishes to join, to wander the city together + work on a final postcard making workshop in school.
The aim of the event is to introduce, and expand the postcard community – leading to an eventual follow-up, experimental course.
As the course wishes to include as many people as possible (and from and from as many places as possible), the workshop will be held in English.
