Themes and techniques / Temi e tecniche
Postcard 1o1 aims to establish a world-wide community, by inviting people to gather and share time, skills, inspiration, music, knowledge, and - of course - postcards.
The postcard is an object that combines images (the front), communications (message) and performance (sending and reception); it's iconic, easy to make, cheap and a perfect for DIY projects.
We will work together online (through Zoom call), every Sunday morning - to the soundtrack of an open playlist that will grow throughout the duration of the course.
As the course wishes to include as many people as possible (and from and from as many places as possible), the meetings will be held in English.
Together we will explore various collage, drawing and writing techniques
As well as present examples of artists who use/have used postcards and mail art in their artistic practices.
We invite each participant to mail the created postcards to each other, as well as to us, in Milan. In our school (Super), a large wall will host a growing display of all the works received.
At the end of the course, all the participants will be invited to visit Milan, in occasion of a final workshop and an open exhibition of the display wall.
Also, during our course we will use #postcard1o1 hashtag to share our works on Instagram (while waiting for the real stuff to arrive to our homes).
